Tsawwassen 10/7/11

Today was total indulgence! It just so happens that our campground was right next door to a place called the Scandinave Spa and I walked over yesterday and booked massages for both Michael and I. This spa is known for its Scandinavian type baths – a hydrotherapy system of hot, cold, warm. First you heat up the body – choosing from a eucalyptus steam room, sauna, or hot pool. We chose the steam room first and were totally steamed up & hot within 5 minutes. Then we had to choose between either a cold pool (70 degrees) or a cold shower. This is supposed to shock the system and let me tell you, it does. Though I would call it more torturous than anything. But our massage therapists told us not to skip this important step…I personally think they are sit up in the massage tower behind those two-way mirrors laughing their ass off while they watch everyone get into the cold pools. The whole place is a quiet zone and it was all I could do not to scream like crazy getting in, but I quickly lost the urge to scream once I started hyperventilating.

After the shock of cold and it actually feels warm outside when it’s only 60 degrees, you go into a warm building and sit & let your body come back to its natural temperature. Thankfully, this only took half the day. Haha! No, it only took about 15 minutes and then you do the whole system again. It was really great. OK, well, not the cold part, that part sucked every time we did it but the other parts were pretty great. I could have spent the entire day there….

But alas – we had to get going and get to Vancouver for our ferry tomorrow. We left and continued down the mountain, through Vancouver, to Tsawwassen where we checked into a hotel for the night. Our ferry tomorrow morning is at 10:00 and we should be seeing Joe & Deb by early afternoon! Yeah!! We’re planning on spending 4-5 days with them. I can't wait to see them!! :-)

More to follow...
